Nez has left Little Fish

Why do we violently desire what doesn’t have any future anyway?

This chapter has come to an end. Life got too much and caught the death of us. It weakened us. The industry weakened us.

I am sad to say that Nez has left Little Fish. Not because we argued or because of any differences, but simply because being in a band doesn’t happen the way that it does in the movies. The simple truth of it is that we don’t make any money. The little that we do make goes back into the band to fund our next move, from rehearsing to recording to gigging and there isn’t enough money in the pot to live off.

Nez and I spent many years together building Little Fish. We worked hard doing shows, rehearsing, driving up and down the M40. We got the record deal we wanted but after waiting two years for the record to be released, and with not enough radio play to tie in with our great support shows, we didn’t manage to ‘break’ our music to the world. We lost heart and we lost faith in the industry and all the promises that were made to us by the people we came to trust and rely on.

Nez now has a beautiful child and wife that he needs to support and simply can’t afford to carry on living out an unknown future. The wicked world has got its way and although he would love to be a full-time musician and play with Little Fish, he simply can’t afford to.

So, it is with great sadness in my heart that I make this announcement. Although Nez and I have become and remain best of friends, I’m crying into the sun, hoping it will help kiss the fever away. I hope you can understand this and accept me carrying on the band with Ben ‘Johnny Hammond’ Walker. We don’t know quite yet where it is going, but we know that no drummer will ever be Nez. We hope that with you, we will continue to evolve. Little Fish has always been an evolution.
