I hope you’ll forgive a bit of own-trumpet-blowing, but we spotted this review of our acoustic sets at Truck over on music-news.com and we’re quite chuffed with them, especially since we had some serious technical woes. Here’s Saturday:
When I finally get to the Cabaret tent, 2 members of Little Fish are just setting up for a stripped down performance. It’s just guitar and organ today and I am a bit concerned this might not work in this format. Despite breaking her guitar and having to borrow one, the short set was nothing less than amazing. Juju and Ben work together brilliantly delivering amazing vocal performances with a lot of humour. When they play a sad song the singer Juju sounds very much like Patti Smith, which is a good thing in my book! They are playing in the merchandise tent again tomorrow. I can’t wait.
And here’s Sunday. Apparently I’m called Tim:
The time has come to see Little Fish again, this time they are playing the tiny merchandise tent. Unfortunately their technical problems continue and this time their keyboard breaks down completely. Not even an impromptu service by Tim can save the day. They struggle on though with tim playing a borrowed harmonica. Juju (Julia) is so relaxed about the whole thing it feels like she is playing to a group of mates and delivers one strong performance after another. Many artists would have cracked over the problems they have been having this weekend but it only makes Little Fish more fun to watch.
It’s a great review for us, but David Thorpe also managed to see almost every band that played! Check out his reviews of all three days and Jo Cox’s Truck photos to immerse yourself in the full Truck experience…
