Little Fish is a band that gets closer to the the fans, the root of the story and of the song, as comfortable playing house parties as they are the Royal Albert Hall.

    Placebo @ Brixton Academy Part 2 →

    fallenstarphotography:

Little Fish took to the stage. Little Fish are a three piece band from Oxford. They were pretty good too, the lead singer is a little crazy (but in a good way) very animated and charismatic. They had a song that reminded me a lot of The Velvet Underground’s - ‘Heroin’, called ‘Darling Dear’ but I didn’t mind because I

This guy Bob Pritchard took some great photos of the Placebo gig and wrote a 4-part blog about the whole day. Go and check it out!

Next up we have Little Fish, who were last seen on this stage supporting the almighty Alice In Chains back in December. Little Fish fair a little better in front of a larger crowd who are more or less welcoming. The band ploughs through an inspired and eclectic set that shows great signs of development and maturity that more than justifies the gathering hype the band has been collecting since their breakout set at Southsea’s inaugural Southsea Fest back in 2007. Another triumphant performance from another promising band.

However, before talking about the main event (it always is an event when Courtney is in town), special mention has to be given to support band Little Fish. It’s not often that support bands make a great impression, but this 3 piece band from Oxford certainly do just that. It’s no wonder Debbie Harry has been making noises about them when they possess ferocious songs such as set highlight Whiplash. Their 30-minute set flies by as lead singer Julia Sophie commands the stage with such ease like a younger PJ Harvey or Patti Smith.

I have never got 2 piece bands (White Stripes not included) but backed up by an organist, these guys were incredible. Julia, aka Juju, screamed so loud that my ears curled up inside themselves. They had everything that a headliner band should have. They were captivating, loud and very energetic. They’re mesmerizing, with raucous guitar, and stomping drums. With last song, and new single ‘Am I Crazy?’, Juju broke a string and ended their set by unwinding the broken string which was the best thing I had even witnessed. Open mouthed and everything. This band are truly amazing. Think Patti Smith, meets PJ Harvey meets Alison Mosshart. Awesome. Check them out.
