Little Fish

Little Fish is a band that gets closer to the the fans, the root of the story and of the song, as comfortable playing house parties as they are the Royal Albert Hall.

    My Band T-Shirt: 93. Little Fish, Wonderful (2011) →

    mybandtshirt:

This is the only band T-shirt that I own. And I will never wear it.

I like the idea of this site - personal stories of band t-shirts. There’s a beautiful but sad story about Geoff’s Wonderful t-shirt and how he was Nez’s biggest fan!

I have so many band t-shirts. I rarely wear them, but I could never throw them away. I bought most of them at gigs, and they are like an old photo album or a collection of books - more meaningful than anyone else will ever understand…

    Wonderful by Little Fish.

This has been one of my favorite songs of the past month. The singer sounds so much like Patti Smith and her vocals are extraordinary. The song just puts me in a good mood. I am beyond excited to see what comes out of this band. :)

    Aw… thanks. We’re excited too. ;)

    kuangeleven:

I received my vinyl copy of ‘Wonderful’ by Little Fish today! Beautifully made and perfectly mastered, with a great b-side I hadn’t heard before. Happy bunny :)
Oh, on the subject of vinyl. Yes, there are lots of pro and anti arguments, most of which descend quickly into snarky evangelism. Not bothered. I like it, and I love the sense that if I could trace my fingertips down into the grooves I’d feel the very air moving in the studio. It’s a beautiful, tactile expression of somebody’s heart and soul and makes the connection with the artist feel more ‘real’ than a digital download ever could.

Great photo. And so happy to see the vinyl out in the world at last. ;)

    Some reviews of Wonderful

I just spotted some great little reviews of Wonderful dotted around the internet. Jake at Leeds Music Scene gave it 4 stars, saying:

‘Wonderful’ soars like some great mythological bird, hitting heights that feel at times, especially in the decibel-shattering climax, a million miles above Earth.

David at Collected sounds wrote the most bizarrely punctuated review I’ve ever seen (also 4/5), containing this gem:

Juju’s vocals flit from theatrical to delving, as openness towards significant others is well and truly extolled.

Ian gave Wonderful a short write-up in The Music Fix’s Singles of the Week, and wins a prize for being the first reviewer to make the obvious title-related comment:

Never has a song title ever seemed so appropriate.

It’s always great when someone finds a new way to describe Juju’s voice, and I think Katie from Popped Culture hits the nail on the head in her awesome review when she talks about:

    Juju’s raspy warble

Lorenzo from AAA Music is sad to see Nez go, but rates Wonderful as:

    Honest, impetuous and, incredibly good.

After getting up at 6am to get a bus across town and sign for a delivery which still hasn’t turned up at 8am, these cheered me up a bit. Nice to know someone’s listening. ;)
