I woke up this morning with a feeling that I should write something to you to explain a little about what has been going on in Fishville, behind the scenes, within our Rubik’s Cube, in my head.
Juju has written an important message for the Fish fans. An update. An explanation.
It’s long, so get yourself a cup of tea and go and read it…

From the BBC site:
We had a great time recording this with Bob. When you’re playing in a “talk radio” studio you don’t get monitor mixes through headphones. Juju just sang and played completely acoustic and I had a little quiet practice amp to hear the organ. Listening to it this morning, with the radio compression and tasty reverb it sounds much better. ;)
This embedded player should work for a week (until Santa comes down the chimney to switch it off).

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]We just found a demo of Error In Your Sunrise that we recorded with Gaz earlier in the year. We had almost forgotten about it, but it sounds great!
Nez is rocking away on drums, Juju is on great form and I seem to have discovered a tinkly synth of some sort, probably on the iPad…
It’s free to listen, embed, share and download so stick it on your iPod and make it the soundtrack to a beautiful moment. ;)

Update: Here’s the track in the new HTML5 Soundcloud player, which should work on iPhones and so on…

After a quiet week in the French countryside, it’s back to work with a bang here at Fish HQ. And we have some exciting gigs coming up…
Bob Harris has invited us to play the Old Grey Whistle Test stage at retroculturefest Generation Expo. We’ll be playing at 6pm on Saturday 8th October, supporting Squeeze! It’s £12 to get in, but you can get in for £6 if you print this flyer and take it with you… Just click the picture to open a PDF that you can easily print:
Next Monday is the launch gig for Wonderful at the Barfly in Camden. We’re super-excited about having our friends Black Casino & the Ghost and George Chopping (and maybe even someone else if we have time!) supporting, and we’re going to make it an awesome gig.
Needless to say we would love you all to come, and if you want to bring a hundred friends we won’t stop you. ;)
Click the poster for details:
We’re going East! The Little Fish Global World Tour of Singapore is confirmed for November. The dates are on our gigs page, and there are more details on the Timbre Music site.

Why do we violently desire what doesn’t have any future anyway?
This chapter has come to an end. Life got too much and caught the death of us. It weakened us. The industry weakened us.
I am sad to say that Nez has left Little Fish. Not because we argued or because of any differences, but simply because being in a band doesn’t happen the way that it does in the movies. The simple truth of it is that we don’t make any money. The little that we do make goes back into the band to fund our next move, from rehearsing to recording to gigging and there isn’t enough money in the pot to live off.
Nez and I spent many years together building Little Fish. We worked hard doing shows, rehearsing, driving up and down the M40. We got the record deal we wanted but after waiting two years for the record to be released, and with not enough radio play to tie in with our great support shows, we didn’t manage to ‘break’ our music to the world. We lost heart and we lost faith in the industry and all the promises that were made to us by the people we came to trust and rely on.
Nez now has a beautiful child and wife that he needs to support and simply can’t afford to carry on living out an unknown future. The wicked world has got its way and although he would love to be a full-time musician and play with Little Fish, he simply can’t afford to.
So, it is with great sadness in my heart that I make this announcement. Although Nez and I have become and remain best of friends, I’m crying into the sun, hoping it will help kiss the fever away. I hope you can understand this and accept me carrying on the band with Ben ‘Johnny Hammond’ Walker. We don’t know quite yet where it is going, but we know that no drummer will ever be Nez. We hope that with you, we will continue to evolve. Little Fish has always been an evolution.

I know this is IN THE PAST, but I didn’t realise there was a cool poster for this gig beforehand, so I thought I’d share it now.
And now that we know who She Keeps Bees are, I feel much happier telling you to go and check them out. They were excellent live, and their album Dig On (which we bought on vinyl) is very cool indeed.
